Uruguay’s Cabinet submits bill on crypto market to Parliament

In October 2021, the Central Bank of Uruguay announced a plan to gradually legalize the cryptocurrency market. It said that the Central Bank should receive regulatory functions.
This week, the government submitted a bill to Parliament that would give the Central Bank such powers.
Uruguay’s Financial Services Authority will create a list of cryptocurrency companies willing to operate in the country. To legalize the industry, it is necessary to make amendments to the securities legislation.
