South African authorities urge crypto exchanges to obtain licenses by the end of 2023

The South African government has called on cryptocurrency exchanges operating in the country to obtain licenses as soon as possible. The registration process must be completed by the end of 2023, Bloomberg reported.
The Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FSCA) has received about 20 applications over the past few weeks from cryptocurrency companies that want to be licensed to operate legally in South Africa.
Department head Unati Kamlana told reporters that Nov. 30 is the deadline for filing a registration application.
