Russian authorities will prepare legislation for external use of cryptocurrencies in January 2023

The State Duma supports the government’s initiative to use digital currencies in foreign markets.
As noted by Anatoly Aksakov, who heads the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, this instrument could be used, for example, to pay for parallel imports. The corresponding legal framework will be prepared in January 2023.
At the same time, the deputy reminded that cryptocurrency cannot be used in the domestic market as a means of payment. It can only be used outside Russian jurisdiction in export-import transactions to circumvent Western financial sanctions.
