Report: The stolen ether went to Tornado Cash

According to U.S. authorities, the Tornado Cash service was used by hackers to legalize stolen cryptocurrency. The site’s coming under Treasury Department sanctions caused discontent among both experts and representatives of the blockchain industry.
The SlowMist team’s research says that tokens deployed on Ether and Binance Chain were coming into Tornado Cash.
The lion’s share of the ether stolen by hackers went just through this service. According to analysts’ estimates, criminals managed to legalize up to 74.6% of the stolen ETH through this service. Funds were withdrawn not only from crypto exchanges, but also from wallets during the first half of 2022.
