Paraguay’s president rejects bill on cryptocurrencies and mining

At the end of May, the Paraguayan parliament approved a bill to legalize the cryptocurrency market and mining. The document was submitted to President Mario Abdo Benitez.
However, the head of state rejected it because of the risks that mining could pose to the energy infrastructure.
The bill states that cryptocurrency mining should be recognized as a type of industry. Accordingly, individuals and legal entities engaged in mining should pay for electricity at special rates.
