EU finance ministers confirm plans for digital euro

The European Union plans to release the digital euro by the end of 2026.
This is the timeline that Fabio Panetta, who sits on the EU Central Bank’s Executive Committee, outlined last May.
Last Monday, EU finance ministers confirmed Brussels’ plans to create a euro-linked token. They also agreed that the ECB will not be able to limit the use of CBDC in the domestic market as a means of payment.
