China to test digital yuan in public transport payments

Last Tuesday, China officially began the second phase of testing its national digital currency (CBDC).
The People’s Bank of China token will be used to pay for public transport in Guangzhou.
Payment with digital yuan will be available on ten bus routes. Test participants must install a mobile application on their smartphones and top up their digital wallets. It is possible to pay for the trip by scanning a QR code on the bus.
