Faruk Fatih Ozer, the former head of the cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, which collapsed in 2021, was placed on the international wanted list by Turkish law enforcement authorities.
According to investigators, he stole more than $2 billion in digital currencies and fled the country. Ozir was detained in Albania at Ankara’s request and extradited to his home country. After arriving in Istanbul, police detained him at the airport, according to local news agency Anadolu.
The Turkish authorities accuse Ozer of fraud and criminal association. He was arrested in Albania last August on the basis of an Interpol request.
