Bank of Mexico won’t be able to launch digital peso by 2024

Mexican authorities planned to launch the national digital currency by 2024. In January 2022, the head of state Andrés Manuel López Obrador published a corresponding post on social networks.
However, Mexico’s central bank has decided to shift the deadline because it will not be able to issue a digital peso within the next 12 months, local media reported. The regulator has not yet announced a new date.
